Regarding the existence of large tax accumulations, Al-Hussein stressed that the government recently formed a committee to know the accumulated tax costs to investigate the reasons for evasion.He pointed out that the government is serious in holding accountable the defaults and defaults in paying their tax obligations, in order to correct the defects and corruption.
On the mechanism of reducing the problem of tax evasion, which the government is particularly interested in parallel with the discussion of the draft budget in 2020, Hussein pointed out that the introduction of imports with unreal values is one of the main problems being discussed, in order to reduce tax evasion. Billing, speeding up the application of electronic payment systems, and then building a database on taxpayers, in addition to qualifying and training tax workers, especially income auditors.
Al-Hussein explained that it is not possible to give a real figure on the volume of tax evasion in Syria, noting that the bulk of the taxes paid by the top taxpayers are real, such as telecommunications companies, banks, insurance companies, and other major companies.
