Deir ez-Zor province today opened a floating bridge linking the Euphrates River and connecting the villages of Mariya and Marat on both sides of the river, making it the first bridge between the two banks of the river after the destruction of all bridges in previous years by the Washington Coalition

 

The governor of Deir Ezzor, Abdul Majid Kawakbi, said that the bridge "comes in response to the need and demands of the people in the northern countryside to establish a bridge linking the banks of the Euphrates River and allows them to communicate with the rest of the province after the US coalition destroyed the bridges between the two banks of the river in the province as part of a campaign to destroy Systematically affected the economic and infrastructure of our country. ”

 

Al-Kawakibi said that the bridge will be a developmental, economic and social lifeline that allows people to communicate with their relatives, in addition to transporting goods and agricultural crops between the Syrian island region and the rest of the province and from there to other governorates. The director of the technical office in the governorate of Deir Ezzor, Eng. Fadi Tohmeh, said that the bridge is a floating floating bridge stretched with metal cables of different diameters, tightened to concrete bases on both sides of the river, 145 meters long and 8 meters wide, with a load of about 60 tons. Civil works were carried out from digging bases, pouring concrete and reinforced concrete, supplying metal cables and related accessories, preparing roads leading to the bridge site, while Russian friends provided the rafts that form the body of the floating bridge.
