Within the framework of enhancing the role of participatory work to make the city of Damascus a smart and clean modern city organizes its components in full elegance based on scientific research methods, knowledge and innovation and enrich its cultural heritage of art and beauty, and on the occasion of World Cities Day, Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside participated in a workshop entitled "For You Damascus .. Building Development On the knowledge "set up by the Higher Commission for Scientific Research in cooperation with the governorate of Damascus.
The workshop aims to prepare an executive plan based on knowledge, scientific research and development to address the pressing issues in Damascus city, in addition to improving the mental and visual image through conducting development studies based on innovation and aiming to solve the existing problems (engineering, architectural, environmental, health ..) and drawing strategies in accordance with plans Sustainable development and meeting the future challenges resulting from population growth and its negative effects on the city and its heritage.
During the workshop, Eng. Adel Al Olabi, Governor of Damascus, stressed the need for partnership and cooperation in the vision and concerted efforts in order to enhance the results and implement the plans to make the city of Damascus more sustainable and to become smart and clean with high technological specifications in the future.This is due to the cadres and administrative, practical, human and physical expertise in Damascus.
In turn, Mrs. Marwa Al-Eitouni, a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors, stressed the intensification of efforts and work to return Damascus to the list of heritage cities, which is the oldest inhabited city in the world and the oldest capital in history, and work to restore the Barada River to what it was before, which was an ancient historical symbol sung by poets Throughout the ages.
